AI course for leaders: The AI Act for management

The AI Act places responsibility with the company, not with the individual employee. The course gives management an overview of the law, your role, and a plan that can be carried out in 90 days.

Why management needs the course

Most companies use AI without having decided to. It comes with Office, the CRM, the HR system, and the chatbot on the website. No one has the overview, and no one owns it.

The law requires you to support AI literacy among employees and to use high-risk AI correctly. Only management can set that in motion. The biggest risk is rarely the fine. It is the customer or partner asking for documentation you do not have.

What management gets out of the course

Your role

Are you a provider or a deployer? And when does a deployer become a provider?

An overview of your AI

A method for making the list, finding the hidden AI, and giving each system an owner.

The risk class

An exercise where you place your own systems and find the high-risk ones.

A 90-day plan

Five steps and a documentation checklist, so you are ready when someone asks.

The 90-day plan

  1. Days 1 to 30. Make the list of your AI systems and give each one an owner. Choose one owner in management.
  2. Days 31 to 45. Assign a risk class to each system. Flag high risk, and stop anything that looks like prohibited use.
  3. Days 46 to 60. Write a one-page AI policy and make the list of approved tools.
  4. Days 61 to 80. Train all employees. Those who make decisions with AI get more.
  5. Days 81 to 90. Gather the documentation and schedule an annual review.

What you must be able to show

  1. A list of AI systems with purpose, data, users, owner, and risk class.
  2. A one-page AI policy, dated and known by everyone.
  3. A list of approved tools and a path to getting new ones approved.
  4. Proof of AI literacy per employee, with date and expiry.
  5. Supplier agreements that include the AI requirements.
  6. Minutes from the annual review.

Skillflow handles item 4 for you. Employees take AI at work, and every completion provides proof with a date. The overview shows who is missing.
